Each priest chooses a god to follow. A priest's prayers and granted powers will vary according to the god he chooses.
Prayers are essentially spells, similar to magic spells, and are handled as such. Prayers generally take one round to cast and take effect immediately or the next round. Priests do not have spell books; they pray for their prayers. Prayers do not generally require spell components, either. However, a priest must be able to speak clearly and not be muted by any natural or magical means to invoke a prayer.
Granted powers are special gifts from the priest's god. They are distinct from prayers and are not required to operate according to spell rules.
